Kathmandu: The Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE) has announced that advance ticket bookings for the upcoming Dashain festival will only commence after a thorough assessment of road conditions across the country.
According to National News Agency Nepal, during a discussion at the Department of Transport Management, the Federation expressed concerns that many roads remain partially operational. This has resulted in public vehicles experiencing delays when entering the Kathmandu Valley from various regions.
Federation representatives highlighted the difficulties faced by vehicles due to poor road conditions, questioning the feasibility of opening advance ticket bookings under such circumstances. They emphasized the uncertainty of vehicles’ return times if road conditions do not improve.
Department Director General Rajib Pokhrel stressed the importance of coordination among all stakeholders to ensure citizens’ safe and comfortable travel during the festival. He urged transport entrepreneurs to maintain fare transparency, prioritize online ticket bookings, ensure proper vehicle maintenance, and avoid carrying passengers beyond seating capacity.
Superintendent of Police Basant Rajaure provided assurance that appropriate measures will be implemented to ensure passenger safety during the Dashain travel period.
