Kathmandu: Roads have been blocked due to mudslides triggered by rains in seven different locations across the country today as well, according to the Nepal Police. Central spokesperson of Nepal Police, Deputy Inspector General Binod Ghimire, reported that the Jajarkot-Dolpa section remains completely blocked following a dry landslide at Bhirkuna of Nalgad Municipality-11 in Jajarkot.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Myagdi Beni-Darbang section is also blocked by a mudslide at Ghumaune Bhir of Beni Municipality-4, which occurred at 5:25 this morning. Furthermore, the Muglin-Narayangadh road has been completely blocked for two days due to a dry landslide at Tuinkhola in Chitwan, which happened at 6:25 pm on September 19. Efforts involving three excavators are underway to clear the debris, and it is expected that the road will be operational by this afternoon.
The Friendship Bridge linking Nepal and China at Rasuwa has also sustained damage due to floods, impacting vehicular traffic. Police spokesperson Ghimire mentioned that traffic has been halted on the bridge connecting Nepal and China in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-2 due to ongoing floods in the area.
In addition, other affected roadways include the Jajarkot-Dolpa section of the Bheri Corridor highway at Aathbiskot Municipality-6 in Rukum West and the Araniko Highway, where a landslide at Kodari, Bhotekoshi in Sindhupalchok, has obstructed the route.
Meanwhile, police have announced that traffic on the BP Highway will be halted at night to prevent disaster events caused by the ongoing monsoon rains. The operation of hired vehicles is restricted from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am until further notice, although private vehicles will still be permitted to operate.
