Assistive Devices Distributed to 68 Individuals with Disabilities in Kailali


Kailali: Assistive devices have been distributed to 68 persons with disabilities across three municipalities in Kailali. The initiative is aimed at improving access to education for students with disabilities by providing them with the necessary support materials.



According to National News Agency RSS, a total of 92 items, comprising 16 different types of assistive devices, were distributed to children with disabilities after assessing their individual needs. In Lamkichuha Municipality, 18 individuals received 24 types of assistive devices, while 26 individuals in Janaki Rural Municipality received 39 types. Additionally, 24 individuals in Tikapur Municipality were provided with 29 different support materials.



The distribution effort was supported by a budget of Rs 13,51,840, which was used to provide an array of supportive devices, including wheelchairs, chairs, toilet chairs, artificial legs, and artificial fingers. Arun Chaudhary, the programme coordinator at Good Neighbours International Nepal, shared this information.



The project was part of an inclusive initiative conducted with both financial and technical assistance from Good Neighbors International Nepal. The effort was implemented in partnership with Sevak Nepal Kailali and was coordinated with the local municipalities of Lamkichuha, Janaki, and Tikapur.
