Kathmandu: The Election Commission (EC) has provided an update to President Ram Chandra Paudel concerning the preparations underway for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) elections, which are scheduled for March 5.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari, along with other Commissioners, met with the President on Thursday to discuss the EC’s strategies and programs intended to ensure that the elections are conducted in a free, fair, and fearless manner. During this meeting, the President was informed about the EC’s prior discussions with the Prime Minister and other ministers, focusing on the need for human resources and logistical support essential for the polls.
The EC also briefed the President about the government’s commitment to establishing a reliable security arrangement, which is crucial for the election process. The President, in response, emphasized the importance of promptly engaging in consultations with political parties and stakeholders to foster active participation from all citizens in the upcoming elections.
Furthermore, President Paudel advised the EC to adhere to its timeline by developing a comprehensive calendar, ensuring that all preparatory milestones are achieved promptly and the elections are conducted as scheduled.
