Bhaktapur: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has affirmed that the current government was established with the primary purpose of conducting free and fair elections as scheduled. The elections are slated to take place on March 5, 2026, and the government is committed to ensuring they occur in a transparent and equitable manner.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Home Minister Aryal, during his inspection of the District Administration Office in Bhaktapur, urged all stakeholders to engage in dialogue to foster an environment conducive to the elections. He highlighted the presence of elements attempting to disrupt the elections and emphasized the necessity of countering such forces. Aryal noted that certain politicians are attempting to undermine the morale of security personnel.
The Home Minister further stated that individuals ousted from power are attempting to disturb the nation’s peace, harmony, and politics. He instructed the government to equip the police with necessary resources, following incidents where vehicles were set ablaze and weapons stolen during protests, to maintain peace and security for the populace.
During his visit, Home Minister Aryal also inspected areas within the District Administration Office where the citizenship distribution section and case section were set on fire during the protests on September 9. Chief District Officer Namaraj Ghimire briefed the Minister on the damage incurred during the protests, the resulting inconveniences, and the current state of law and order in the country.
