Universities Should Prioritize Research: Chief Minister Karki


Budhiganga: Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Karki has emphasized the importance of research initiatives for Manmohan Technical University, urging the institution to concentrate on the nation’s prosperity through innovative research. During the inauguration of the university’s fifth senate, held in Budhiganga Rural Municipality of Morang, Chief Minister Karki highlighted the potential contributions of educational and production-based research programs to the nation’s overall development. He also committed to ensuring the university’s autonomy and pledged additional budget allocations to support its initiatives.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Chief Minister Karki urged the university to focus its health-related programs at the Dhankuta Hospital under the province government. Additionally, he announced a collaborative effort between the provincial government and the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences Dharan to launch the ‘Koshi Mobile Hospital’ in three Terai districts, with plans for gradual expansion to other districts within the province.



Chief Minister Karki also emphasized the importance of good governance and the need to curb corruption, stating it is inappropriate to vandalize government and private property while displaying the national flag. He mentioned that the government intends to prioritize the health, education, and tourism sectors to curb population migration from the hills to the Terai area.



Furthermore, University’s Vice-Chancellor Dr. Subash Shree Pokhrel revealed that the university has initiated research focused on the production of various Ayurvedic medicines, aligning with the institution’s commitment to national progress through research and innovation.
