According to National News Agency Nepal, the condolence gathering was attended by several dignitaries, including Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Kulman Ghising, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Ajay Bhadra Khanal, Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal, Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, Secretary of Communications and Information Technology Radhika Aryal, and Israeli Ambassador to Nepal Shmulik Arie. All present paid their respects to Joshi and conveyed condolences to his family.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that arrangements have been made to transport Joshi’s body by aircraft to Dhangadhi today, from where it will be taken to his residence in Kanchanpur. The return of Joshi’s body to Nepal was coordinated by the Nepali Embassy in Israel with the assistance of the Israeli government. Joshi, a Nepali student, had been taken hostage in Gaza following a Hamas attack in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the immediate deaths of 10 Nepali students.

The Nepal government engaged in extensive efforts to secure the release of Joshi, who was held captive. Despite these efforts, the Israeli government officially notified about Joshi’s death on October 14, 2025.
