President Paudel Receives Tihar ‘Tika’ from Sisters at Shital Niwas

Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has received this year’s Tihar tika from his younger sisters Sharada Pandit and Chanda Ojha at the auspicious hour of 11:39 am at the President House, Shital Niwas today, the President’s Private Secretariat stated.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the Nepal Calendar Determination Committee had set 11:39 am as the auspicious time for this year’s Bhai Tika. The committee noted that although this specific time was recommended, the rituals of giving and receiving ‘tika’ could be performed throughout the day.

The Bhai Tika ritual involves sisters applying the ‘five-colour-tika’ on the forehead of their brothers, with the brothers reciprocating for their sisters. The Bhai Tika rituals are celebrated on the last day of the five-day-long Yama Panchak or Tihar festival, which is the second biggest festival in Nepal.
