Kathmandu: The Ministry of Home Affairs has urged all citizens to resolve any demands through dialogue and discussions. Ananda Kafle, the Ministry’s Spokesperson and Joint Secretary, highlighted the government’s concern over the recent trend of individuals and groups announcing protest activities, such as sit-ins and rallies, on social media. He emphasized that the government is committed to addressing legitimate demands and interests through peaceful means.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Kafle stressed that the current government, which came into power following Gen-Z-led protests, is diligently working to ensure a conducive environment for the upcoming elections scheduled for March 5, 2026. Efforts are underway to amend election-related laws, manage resources, and engage with political parties and stakeholders to ensure a fair electoral process.
The Ministry underscored the importance of cooperation and coordination in maintaining peace and security, which are crucial for conducting the elections in a free and fair manner. Kafle also noted the government’s progress in restoring public services and rebuilding structures damaged during the demonstrations held on September 8 and 9, as part of normalizing the law and order situation.
Expressing concern over the potential infiltration by groups with vested interests in planned protests, the Ministry called for caution among organizers to prevent instability. It further urged everyone to prioritize national interests, maintain communal harmony, and uphold public and national security while exercising their rights to peaceful living and participation in democratic processes.
