Writ Petition Filed Against Probe Commission Over Gen Z Protest Inquiry

Kathmandu: A writ petition has been submitted before the Supreme Court against Gauri Bahadur Karki, Chairman of the Commission for Investigation of Loss of Lives and Property during the Gen Z Protest, along with Commission Members Bigyan Raj Sharma and Bishweshwor Prasad Bhandari. Advocate Bipin Dhakal has filed the petition, questioning the neutrality of the office bearers involved in the investigation of the Gen Z protest, suggesting that their involvement could lead to an unfair probe.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the petition argues that the members of the Commission may not be impartial in their investigation of the events related to the Gen Z protest. Advocate Dhakal’s submission points to potential biases that might affect the fairness of the inquiry process.

Spokesperson at the Supreme Court, Arjun Prasad Koirala, confirmed the receipt of the writ petition and stated that it is currently under study for further action. The Commission was established by the interim government with Gauri Bahadur Karki, the former chair of the Special Court, leading the inquiry into the loss of life and property during the Gen Z protest.
