Kathmandu: A tripartite discussion has commenced among representatives of the government, political parties, and Gen Z at the behest of Prime Minister Sushila Karki. Some 16 representatives from political parties and 14 from Gen Z are participating in the ongoing discussions at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar.
According to National News Agency Nepal, on behalf of the government, Prime Minister Sushila Karki is joined by Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Anil Kumar Sinha, and Minister for Education, Science and Technology Mahabir Pun. The meeting aims to create a conducive environment for the election slated for March 5, 2026.
Representing Gen Z groups, 13 participants from the ‘Indigenous Gen Z Collective,’ ‘How to Desh Bikas,’ and ‘Gen Z Movement Alliance’ are present. The agenda focuses on enabling an election environment and fostering shared political understanding.
From the political parties, Nepali Congress spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat, CPN (UML) representatives Mahesh Bartaula and Yuba Sangh Chairperson Kshitij Thewe, and CPN (Maoist Center) leaders Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Barshaman Pun, and Madhab Sapkota are attending the meeting. Additionally, Vice President Dr. Swarnim Wagle and Nisha Dangi from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Prakash Jwala and Rajendra Pandey from CPN (Unified Socialist), and Rajendra Gurung and Mohan Shrestha from Rastriya Prajatantra Party are also participating.
Gen Z is represented by Monika Niraula, Raksha Bam, Puruswottam Yadav, Samana Lawati, Khemraj Saud, Upa Arjun Chamling, Bhoj Bikram Thapa, Miraj Dhungana, Bibek Dahal, James Karki, Rehanraj Dangol, Amit Khanal, and Rajan Ranamagar.
The government has been conducting several rounds of consultations to ensure the elections’ success. Prior discussions were held on October 21 between the government and political parties at the invitation of Prime Minister Karki. Earlier discussions also included Prime Minister Karki and Gen Z groups in the presence of President Ramchandra Paudel.
