Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population has decided to mobilize teams across all seven provinces to tackle recent challenges in the health sector. Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, announced the decision to deploy teams along with specialists to address these issues.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the teams will study problems faced by nursing staff regarding salary and benefits, assess the classification of injuries sustained during the Gen-Z demonstrations, and evaluate the status of Gen-Z clinic operations, among other issues, to identify potential solutions. The teams are expected to facilitate discussions and enhance coordination with relevant bodies at federal, provincial, and local levels to resolve these problems.
The Ministry has instructed its subordinate departments, centers, and directorates to present action plans aimed at improving sector-specific healthcare in line with public aspirations amidst these changes, as stated by Ministry spokesperson Dr. Budhathoki. He elaborated that the Ministry’s subordinate entities were directed to submit lists of short-term/immediate plans (to be completed within 30 days), medium-term plans (to be started within 60 days), and long-term plans (targeted for future impact).
Spokesperson Budhathoki also mentioned that instructions have been issued to ensure transparency and make the public procurement process and medicine registration process more citizen-friendly. Furthermore, the Ministry has directed immediate attention to complaints concerning the performance of bodies under its jurisdiction.
