Kathmandu: The third Central Committee meeting of the CPN (Unified Socialist) has commenced, with party Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal addressing the assembly. He articulated that the political failure to address citizens’ concerns ranging from Mechi to Mahakali has sparked the Gen-Z protest and the ensuing new political environment. He asserted that the relevance of their decision to separate from the CPN (UML) four years prior has now been validated.
According to National News Agency Nepal, party leader Jhala Nath Khanal advised the leadership to thoroughly evaluate the proposal for party unification with another entity, noting that the full confirmation of the split’s relevance is still pending. Party General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal disclosed that a report concerning talks with various parties on the unification proposal, prepared by the party’s unification taskforce, will be discussed during the meeting.
Bhusal added that the meeting will also review the Gen-Z movement from September 8-9, the circumstances following the new government’s formation, and topics related to party unification. In his address, the party Chair highlighted that elections are the sole method to resolve the prevailing issues and uncertainties in the nation. He urged the government to involve all political parties in the election process.
The Chair accused communist parties of malpractice and called for an investigation into the properties of party leaders. Reflecting the Gen-Z movement’s ethos, he declared that the party will secure 20 percent youth representation in party committees. He also urged all political parties to focus on good governance, job creation, and uninterrupted services for citizens.
The meeting is scheduled to conclude on October 31.
