PM Karki Urges Nepal Airlines Leadership to Address Organizational Anomalies


Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has issued a directive to the Board of Directors of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) and other top officials, urging them to take decisive action to address the organizational anomalies within the national flag carrier.



According to National News Agency Nepal, PM Karki emphasized the importance of implementing expert recommendations for the Corporation’s reform and stressed the need for collective effort to elevate the status of NAC, making it a source of national pride. The directives were issued during a meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister, where the top-tier management of NAC was summoned.



PM Karki’s Secretariat highlighted her call for maintaining good governance and tackling financial irregularities, along with addressing issues related to the regular maintenance of aircraft. The Prime Minister also insisted that officials should operate free from political pressure.



During the meeting, Acting Chairman of the NAC Board of Directors, Bikram Rai, committed to implementing reforms and delivering tangible results promptly. Additionally, Acting General Manager Janakraj Kalakheti revealed that the Corporation currently faces a deficit exceeding Rs 17 billion.



The meeting was also attended by Finance Minister Rameshwore Khanal and Chief Secretary Eaknarayan Aryal, indicating the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by Nepal Airlines Corporation.
