Kanchanpur: The Food Management and Trade Company has officially commenced the purchase of rice from local farmers. Branch Chief of the Company, Mahi Karan Mahara, disclosed that the initiative aligns with the support price set for their produce.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Company plans to acquire five quintals of rice from the Kanchanpur district this year. Mahara mentioned that this quantity could increase based on demand, acknowledging that the company could not meet its procurement targets in previous years. Last year, the company aimed to purchase 15,000 quintals of rice but managed to procure only 2,951 quintals, which accounts for just 20 percent of their target.
