Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel is scheduled to depart for Qatar on Monday to participate in the Second World Summit for Social Development, which will take place in Doha from November 4 to 6. The visit comes at the invitation of the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, as announced by Amrit Bahadur Rai, Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a news conference at the Ministry.
According to National News Agency Nepal, President Paudel will lead a 12-member Nepali delegation to the Summit. On November 4, he plans to address both the Plenary Meetings and the High-Level Roundtable. President Paudel is also expected to meet with the UN Secretary General and the Amir of Qatar during the event.
In addition to the main Summit activities, the President is scheduled to engage with various world leaders present at the event. The Summit aims to foster a collective commitment towards cooperation and assistance for social development.
Key topics at the Summit will include discussions on global development inequalities, demographic imbalances, and the societal impacts of technology. The inaugural World Summit for Social Development took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1995.
President Paudel and his delegation are expected to return to Kathmandu on November 6.
