Gorkha: The Manaslu trekking route in northern Gorkha has been reopened. The route, which faced a complete closure from Thursday due to the potential risk of landslides following heavy snowfall and rainfall, has now been cleared for trekkers to embark on their journey, as confirmed by Acting Chief District Officer, Chitrangat Baral.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the district administration has urged trekkers to ensure their safety by obtaining necessary information about the trekking route with the help of a trekking guide before starting their trek. Baral mentioned that the reopening decision was made after the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology predicted a gradual improvement in weather conditions.
Santosh Sherchan, Chief of the Manaslu Conservation Area Project Programme in Gorkha, advised trekkers to begin their journey only after gathering updated weather information and taking necessary precautions, as some sections of the trekking route have been damaged due to recent rainfall. Many tourists heading towards the Manaslu area were forced to turn back without reaching their destination because of adverse weather conditions.
