Upcoming March 5 Election, an Outcome of Young Generation’s Uprising: President Paudel

Doha: President Ramchandra Paudel has said the upcoming March 5 election to the House of Representatives (HoR) was an outcome of the young generation’s uprising. The Head of the State has called for support from one and all to make the election a success.

According to National News Agency Nepal, in his address to the reception hosted at the Nepali Embassy in Doha, Qatar, President Paudel stated that the election will be significant for Nepal’s development and destiny, informed President’s press advisor. The young generation had waged the struggle for ending corruption, enabling good governance and development, and putting an end to the situation for the youths to seek opportunities abroad, President Paudel said, claiming that the ill-efforts of some unscrupulous elements who prioritized their interests turned abortive with the protection of the Constitution and systems.

He noted that while it is challenging to find solutions to the upheavals caused by youth movements in other countries, Nepal has presented a different story of safeguarding politics by preserving the systems and the constitution. He urged the Nepali community to apply the experience gained from Qatar’s development, progress, and technology to the development of Nepal.

President Paudel and first lady Sabita Paudel arrived in Doha to attend the ‘Second World Summit for Social Development’ from November 4-6. They were welcomed by Nepal’s Ambassador to Qatar, Ramesh Chandra Paudel, along with senior officials and representatives of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA). President Paudel and his delegation are attending the summit at the official invitation of Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

According to the decision of the United Nations General Assembly, President Paudel is scheduled to address the main session of the summit on November 4. He is also expected to hold separate sideline meetings with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the United Nations Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres. The summit is anticipated to discuss issues such as inequality in development, population imbalance, and the social impact of technology.

Nepal, a United Nations member since 1955, has consistently been active and committed to peace and stability and is currently chairing the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). After concluding the formal visit to Qatar, President Paudel will return home on November 6.
