Jhapa: The Jhapa Women’s Gold Cup International Invitational Football Tournament is set to commence today after a two-day delay caused by Cyclone Montha, which originated in the Bay of Bengal and brought heavy rains across the country. The tournament is slated to begin at 3:00 pm at Dudhe Stadium in Shivasatakshi, Jhapa, featuring an opening match between Nepal Police and Church Boys United.
According to National News Agency Nepal, eight teams are competing in the tournament, including Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, Church Boys United, Tribhuvan Army Club, Sankata, Jhapa XI, RS Pokhara, and Singling Sporting Club from Sikkim, India. The tournament promises substantial rewards, with the winning team set to receive NPR 1,010,000 and the first runner-up securing NPR 500,000.
Organising Committee Chair Santosh Thopra announced additional accolades for outstanding individual performances. The best player of the tournament will be awarded NPR 150,000, while the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, striker, emerging player, coach, and top scorer will each receive NPR 25,000.
