Agriculture Produce Worth Rs 3.36 Billion Exported via Kakarbhitta Quarantine Office


Kakarbhitta: Agricultural produce valued at Rs 3 billion 367 million and 860 thousand were exported in the first quarter of the current fiscal year 2082/83 (2025/26) through the Plant Quarantine and Pesticide Management Centre Quarantine Office, Kakarbhitta.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the main items for export included cardamom, tea, plywood and veneer, ginger, and broom grass, among others. Of these, the highest exports were cardamom worth Rs 1.51 billion, followed by tea valued at Rs 756.6 million, plywood at Rs 277.4 million, veneer at Rs 272.8 million, and Amliso (broom grass) at Rs 195.9 million.



The office statistics also revealed that ginger worth Rs 119 million, fresh vegetables worth Rs 94.7 million, herbs worth Rs 12.4 million, and lentils worth Rs 74.1 million have been exported during the same period.



Information Officer Chandreshwar Thakur noted that agricultural produce worth Rs 1 billion 451 million and 365 thousand were imported from the eastern border checkpoint during this period. The primary agricultural products imported included potatoes, millet, pulses, rice, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, garlic, maize, and livestock fodder.



The Office further stated that millet worth Rs 6.2 million, rice worth Rs 4.96 million, and vegetables worth Rs 3.06 million were imported over the three months. Additionally, fresh fruits worth Rs 236.7 million, garlic worth Rs 179.9 million, and potatoes worth Rs 307.7 million have been imported, as reported by the quarantine office.
