Rolwaling Avalanche: Five Rescued, Seven Still Missing


Rolwaling: Five persons, who were injured in an avalanche occurred at Rolwaling area, have been rescued today.



According to National News Agency Nepal, two foreigners and three Nepalis have been rescued by a helicopter, while seven people are still missing in the avalanche. Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Risal stated that they were rescued from the base camp of Yalung Ri peak. Additionally, three Nepali guides who managed to escape the avalanche have been safely accommodated at Na Gaun village.



Fifteen climbers, including five foreigners, had reached the base camp through two travel agencies for an expedition to Dolma Khan and Yalung Ri peaks. The avalanche struck on Monday morning at the location where they were staying.



Three individuals, including a foreigner, lost their lives after being buried in the avalanche. The condition of the missing individuals remains unknown. A team of security personnel, including the Nepali Army, has been dispatched to Na Gaun for the rescue operations, as stated by Deputy Superintendent of Police Gyan Kumar Mahato.
