Kathmandu: The fire incidents have been on the rise recently. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) informed that in 24 hours-from November 3 to 4-nine such incidents were recorded across the country.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the districts of Jhapa, Morang, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Gorkha, Parbat, and Kailali witnessed these fire incidents. The NDRRMA added that a total of 18 incidents occurred in two days alone, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and injuring eight others. The financial damages from these incidents have been estimated at Rs 1.1 million.
In addition to the fires, a storm in Rasuwa caused significant destruction, with an avalanche damaging a local hotel in Langtang of Gosaikunda-4. Landslides were also reported in the districts of Bhojpur, Khotang, and Lalitpur.
Another severe threat was an avalanche on the Yelung Ri peak of Gaurishankar rural municipality-9 in Dolakha district, which led to human casualties. Of the 12 individuals attempting to ascend the mountain, four foreign nationals went missing, and three people, including two Nepalis, lost their lives.
Efforts were made to evacuate those displaced by the snowstorm at Chunnubri of Gorkha. Additionally, three individuals injured by snakebites in Siraha, Tanahu, and Kailali districts are currently undergoing treatment.
