Kathmandu: Former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has urged representatives of Gen Z groups to institutionalize their demands raised during recent demonstrations. During a political dialogue between the Nepal Socialist Party (Naya Shakti) and Gen Z groups, Dr. Bhattarai, the party’s founding chairman, emphasized that the Gen Z movement reflects the collective voice of the new generation, which needs formal recognition and institutionalization by the current government.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Dr. Bhattarai stated, “It is imperative to formally sign an agreement with the government to make historic this transformative movement.” He warned that without institutionalization, the movement could lose its significance and impact. Dr. Bhattarai also addressed inquiries from the Gen Z representatives, acknowledging constitutional shortcomings due to his party’s limited influence during its drafting.
The former prime minister stressed that it is now the responsibility of Gen Z to complete the constitution. Party coordinator Durga Sob noted that the party had previously engaged in discussions on social issues and now supports the transformative direction set by the Gen Z movement, positioning itself as an alternative political force.
During the event, Gen Z leaders, including Santen Rai, Prabhat Labh, Arnav Chaudhary, Bikas Rasaili, Amit Khanal Urja, Pradip Pandey, and Majid Ansari, shared their perspectives on the Gen Z protest and the unfolding political developments in the country.
