Kathmandu: The taskforce established to address the facilities of nurses, aligning them with government service standards, has received a one-month extension.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Ministry spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki announced the extension, which was agreed upon by the government and nurse advocacy groups currently engaged in protests. This decision allows the taskforce additional time until December 1 to develop a comprehensive action plan for addressing issues related to nurses’ facilities.
Dr. Budhathoki highlighted that the taskforce is actively working to deliver on the agreed-upon nursing service facilities. Implementation will follow the submission of the taskforce’s report. The taskforce, consisting of 14 members and coordinated by Dr. Shrikrishna Shrestha, Additional Secretary at the Ministry, was initially formed to evaluate and improve nursing service facilities.
Taskforce coordinator Shrestha noted that the group is focused on classifying hospitals and will soon deliver a report detailing the services and facilities available to nurses. Urgent actions that can be implemented immediately will be prioritized in the forthcoming report.
