Kathmandu: Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal inspected former President Bidya Devi Bhandari’s house at local Chapali today. The inspection comes in the wake of damage sustained from an arson attack during the Gen Z protest demonstration on September 8 and 9.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the arson attack had caused significant damage to the property, prompting the Home Minister’s visit to assess the situation. The protest, led by Gen Z demonstrators, has been a focal point of recent civil unrest, drawing attention to various socio-political issues.
Before visiting former President Bhandari’s residence, Home Minister Aryal had conducted an inspection of President Ramchandra Paudel’s house at Bohoratar, Kathmandu. This visit was part of a series of inspections aimed at ensuring the security and safety of key political figures and their residences.
On Tuesday, the Home Minister also visited the residence of the first President, Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, at Bagdol, Lalitpur. During this visit, he took stock of the residence’s condition and held a meeting with Dr. Yadav. These inspections underscore the Home Ministry’s commitment to maintaining the safety of its former and current leaders amidst rising tensions.
