Kathmandu: Nepal trounced India by 92 runs in a match held under the Hong Kong International Sixes tournament. Nepal, who won the toss today and elected to bat first, scored 137 runs without losing any wicket in the allotted six overs.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Nepal’s openers Sundeep Jora and Rashid Khan spearheaded the team’s batting performance. Jora scored 47 runs off 12 balls, while Rashid Khan scored 55 runs off 17 balls before retiring hurt after completing a half-century. Lokesh Bam then joined Jora to add an unbeaten 31 runs off 7 balls, contributing to Nepal’s formidable total.
In response, India struggled to find their footing and were all out in just 3 overs, managing a mere 45 runs. Bharat Chipli and Priyank Panchal were the only Indian batsmen to reach double figures, with 12 runs each. Key players like Robin Utthapa and captain Dinesh Kartik made little impact, scoring only 5 and 7 runs respectively.
Nepal’s Rashid Khan excelled with the ball, taking 3 wickets in a single over. Basir Adhmad supported the bowling attack with two wickets, while Rupesh Singh took one. This victory marks Nepal’s first win after suffering three consecutive defeats in the tournament, having previously lost to South Africa, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka.
