Pennsylvania: The Association of Nepali Origin (ANO), an organisation of people of Nepali origin residing in different countries, has elected a 21-member US National Committee under the chairmanship of Bhuwan Gautam.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the ANO assembly held in Pennsylvania elected Dr. Sanju Mahato to the post of Vice-Chair, Bibek Poudel as Secretary, Chandra Parajuli as Joint-Secretary, and Trishna Chimoriya as Treasurer, as stated by ANO Central General-Secretary Chudamani Bhattarai.
Inaugurating the conference, Charge d’ Affaires of Nepal at the Embassy of Nepal to the US, Sharad Raj Aran, emphasized that Nepali-origin individuals living in various countries could significantly contribute to Nepal’s development and prosperity. He highlighted the importance of acknowledging the identity of Nepali-origin people worldwide.
Aran further mentioned that the Embassy plans to discuss ways to recognize Nepali-origin individuals residing in different countries and will present ANO’s demands to the government of Nepal.
Similarly, ANO Chairperson Dilli Adhikari remarked that the government of Nepal should acknowledge the identity of Nepali-origin people who have lived abroad for generations and are willing to contribute to Nepal’s prosperity.
Dr. Damodar Poudel, Honorary Consul of Nepal for Ohio State and ANO Central Committee member, expressed that Nepali-origin people could aid in Nepal’s prosperity through the ANO campaign.
The event also honored newly elected Commissioner of Swatara Township, Nepali-origin Binita Puri, for her achievements.
