Parsa: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Dr Madan Prasad Pariyar has announced the establishment of an online system aimed at distributing government-subsidized chemical fertilizers in a manner beneficial to farmers.
According to National News Agency Nepal, during an inspection of agricultural and livestock-related government offices in Parsa and Bara, Minister Pariyar acknowledged issues within the current distribution system. He emphasized the government’s efforts to create a system that ensures transparency by tracking the amount of fertilizer each farmer receives. He noted that actual farmers are often unable to access fertilizers due to mismanagement by municipalities and authorized cooperatives, firms, or companies.
Minister Pariyar highlighted the government’s commitment to purchasing fertilizers at high costs to provide them at subsidized rates to farmers. He assured that unlike in previous years, there would not be a shortage of chemical fertilizers this year. Additionally, he men
tioned bringing a proposal to the Council of Ministers to maintain the subsidy of Rs 70 per quintal for sugarcane farmers.
On Saturday, Minister Pariyar reviewed the stock of chemical fertilizers and salt with Salt Trading Corporation and Agricultural Inputs Company Limited Provincial Office, Birgunj. He also engaged in discussions with the National Sugarcane Research Program and various farmers, including sugarcane farmers from Fattepur and Umhanagar, fish farmers from Kolhabi, and banana farmers from Nijgadh.
