Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has directed the National Vigilance Centre (NVC) to carry out its functions more effectively. During a meeting with NVC secretary, Sarju Kumar Baidya, she highlighted the Gen-Z movement’s inherent opposition to corruption, emphasizing the need for the Vigilance Centre’s active engagement to address this issue.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Prime Minister Karki underscored the importance of the centre’s role in tackling complaints related to delays, irregularities, and corruption within public institutions. She emphasized the necessity of creating a preventative environment to curb corruption before it occurs, as opposed to solely implementing punitive measures afterward.
Prime Minister Karki called for a focus on regulation and monitoring to enhance the effectiveness of public services. She stressed the importance of verifying compliance with central directives and ensuring the quality of development and construction projects. This includes adhering to established timelines, budgets, and standards, as well as conducting necessary technical evaluations.
Furthermore, she highlighted the need for adequate allocation of human and financial resources to achieve these objectives.
