Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has emphasized the necessity for cooperation among all stakeholders to ensure that the upcoming March 5 election is conducted in a manner that is friendly to human rights, aiming to fortify the democratic system.
According to National News Agency Nepal, President Paudel highlighted the global and national attention on Nepal’s political developments following the Gen Z movement. He stressed the importance of positive contributions from the government, political parties, civil activists, youth campaigners, and the general public. This call for cooperation was made during his message of best wishes on the occasion of Human Rights Day.
In his address on the 77th Human Rights Day, President Paudel asserted that as countries worldwide strive to build just and equitable societies, Nepal must also actively uphold the fundamental rights guaranteed by its constitution. He underscored the significance of Human Rights Day and reaffirmed the constitution’s reinforcement of the free
doms, equality, and justice outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
President Paudel reiterated Nepal’s commitment to various human rights conventions and its dedication to the protection, promotion, and fulfillment of human rights. He expressed confidence that all levels of government, human rights bodies, media, and civil society organizations would contribute to ensuring human rights, freedoms, and justice.
He also spoke about the role of economic, cultural, and social dimensions of human rights in bolstering individual freedoms and the democratic system.
