Kathmandu: A land scam case has been registered at the District Court today naming former Secretary of Nepal government Arjun Bahadur Karki, Joint Secretary Lekh Bahadur Karki, Chairperson of Thamserku Trekking Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa, and the company Thamserku as defendants. The District Attorney Office in Kathmandu has lodged the case, which revolves around irregularities concerning Nepal trust-owned land.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the case has been filed against the aforementioned individuals and the company in relation to a scam involving land owned by the Nepal Trust. The allegations pertain to discrepancies in the rent of one ropani and 14 aana of land located in Durbarmarga, with the prosecution demanding a sum of approximately Rs 5.256 billion as recompense.
In addition to financial restitution, the District Attorney Office has also sought a prison sentence of five years for the defendants, emphasizing the gravity of the alleged misconduct. The proceedings mark a significant development in the ongoing efforts to address corruption and ensure accountability in the management of state-owned assets.
