Kathmandu: Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has highlighted the need for collaboration and coordination between the government and private sector for the country’s development. At the ‘Gorkhapatra Discourse’ program organized by Gorkhapatra Corporation in coordination with Gorkhapatra Academy to increase dialogue with the private sector for the sustainable development of the economy, Vice President Yadav stated that it was positive to engage in discussions on Nepal’s economic resilience, investment-related matters, future development strategies, smart infrastructure development and management, and the confidence of the private sector, among other topics.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Vice President Yadav expressed optimism that the debate and discussion would lead to a concrete conclusion by analyzing the country’s overall economic situation, challenges, and possibilities, as well as the government’s efforts and private sector’s expectations. He hoped that the discourse would address issues such as the Nepalese economy and policy reforms following the Gen Z Uprising. The Vice President underscored the necessity for the government and the private sector to move forward together.
The Vice President remarked that the Gen Z movement was driven by demands for transparency, good governance, a corruption-free society, easy public service delivery, and the creation of employment opportunities within the country. He expressed confidence that the Gorkhapatra discourse would be instrumental in charting the future course of action after the movement. He also noted that Gorkhapatra is a live document of history, with special contributions to strengthening national unity.
He emphasized the need to mobilize the capital held in banks and financial institutions for economic development. The Vice President expressed confidence that increased investment in agriculture and tourism would contribute to economic growth. He further mentioned that journalism should elevate the voices of the people to the policy-making level, highlighting that the private sector plays a crucial role in enabling the economic sector. He stressed the importance of creating a shared forum for the private sector, experts, policy-makers, and stakeholders to engage in high-level national debates about economic restoration, investment environments, and future development strategies.
