Lalitpur: The first Kawasoti Gold Cup football tournament-2082 kicks off today at Danda in Kawasoti Municipality-16, Nawalparasi. The inaugural match features Gandaki Police Club facing off against the host team, Kawasoti ‘A’, as announced by Tej Narayan Aryal, chair of the organizing club, Sunlight Community Development Center. The event is supported by Kawasoti Municipality and coordinated by Kawasoti Municipality-16 alongside the Nawalpur District Football Association.
According to National News Agency Nepal, a total of 12 teams from various regions across the country are participating in the tournament. The competition promises substantial rewards, with the winner set to receive a cash prize of Rs 301,000. The runner-up will be awarded Rs 150,000, while the teams reaching the semi-finals will each receive Rs 25,000, as shared by Tej Bahadur KC, the financial coordinator of the event. The tournament will conclude with the final match scheduled for December 31.
