Madhesh province: Ram Ashish Yadav of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal was elected the Speaker of the Madhesh Province Assembly. In the election held on Sunday, Yadav received 72 votes from a seven-party alliance.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Deputy Speaker of Madhesh Province Assembly Babita Raut Ishar announced Yadav’s election as Speaker. The vote saw participation from 96 province assembly members, securing Yadav’s position with strong support.
Yadav, who was elected from Dhanusha Constituency no. 2 (B) representing JSP Nepal, served as the Chief Whip of JSP’s parliamentary party in the Madhesh Province Assembly prior to his election as Speaker.
