Kathmandu: The 6th edition of the ‘Tiger Cup’ National/International Invitational Open Club Championship Volleyball Tournament is set to begin on January 23, 2026. A total of 14 teams, comprising seven women’s teams and seven men’s teams, will compete in this prestigious event.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the tournament will feature four foreign teams. The women’s category will include two teams from Thailand, while the men’s category will see participation from teams representing the Maldives and Gujarat, India. Narayan Prasad Sharma, Chairman of the organizing Tiger Group, shared these details as part of the tournament’s announcement.
The participating women’s teams include notable clubs such as United Passion Volleyball Club Thailand, Thailand Queens, Nepal Police Club, Nepal Army Club, APF Club, Tiptop New Diamond Youth Sports Club, and Everest Volleyball Club Rupandehi. In the men’s category, teams from the Maldives Volleyball Association, Gujarat Volleyball Club of India, Gandaki Province Volleyball Association, Parbat District Volleyball Association, and departmental teams Nepal Police, Nepal Army, and Armed Police Force will compete.
The championship winners in both the women’s and men’s categories will be awarded Rs. 666,666, along with a trophy and a medal. The runner-up teams will receive Rs. 366,666, and the third-place teams will be awarded Rs. 166,666.
Chair Sharma highlighted that the tournament’s organization will incur a cost of approximately Rs 18 million. He urged volleyball enthusiasts from around the world to support the event and mentioned that any surplus funds from the tournament will be directed towards education, health, and social development initiatives.
