Kathmandu: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced the match schedule for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier to be organized in Nepal. The tournament features participation from 10 different nations.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the match schedule released by CAN today places Nepal in Group ‘B’. The Nepali women’s cricket team has reached the global qualifiers for the first time by progressing through the World Cup Asia qualifiers. Group B includes Nepal, Scotland, Thailand, the Netherlands, and Zimbabwe.
The competition is scheduled to take place from 14 January to 1 February. Group ‘A’ consists of Bangladesh, Namibia, the United States, and Papua New Guinea. CAN has confirmed that the matches will be held at the Mulpani Cricket Ground and the TU International Cricket Ground in Kathmandu.
Nepal is set to play its first match of the tournament against Thailand on January 18 at the Upper Mulpani Cricket Ground. The tournament format includes the top three teams from both groups advancing to the Super Six matches. From the Super Six, the top four teams will qualify for the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2026.
