Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has scrapped a writ petition filed against chairman and members of the inquiry commission formed on the September 8-9 Gen Z movement. A full bench comprising justices Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma, Nahakul Subedi, and Shreekant Paudel issued a directive order, scrapping the petition filed against chairman of the commission, Gauri Bahadur Karki, and members Bigyan Raj Sharma and Bishweshwar Prasad Bhandari.
According to National News Agency Nepal, earlier, a division bench of justices duo Hari Prasad Phuyal and Abdul Ajiz Musalman had issued a show cause order, seeking a written response. Advocate Bipin Dhakal had lodged the petition, arguing that the commission’s chairman and members were not neutral and therefore could not conduct a fair investigation.
Spokesperson at Supreme Court, Arjun Prasad Koirala, informed that the verdict was issued. However, the directive order would come in written form later.
