Leopard Rescued from Kusunti Height in Lalitpur


Lalitpur: A technical team from the Jawalakhel-based Central Zoo in Lalitpur successfully rescued a leopard from the Machhapuchchhre School area in Kusunti Height. The operation was assisted by the Satdobato Police, District Forest Office, Lalitpur, and the Lalitpur Metropolitan City Police. The leopard was neutralized through a dart before the rescue.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the rescued leopard, estimated to be 10 years old and weighing around 60 kilos, has been taken to the Wildlife Hospital within the Zoo for recovery. Zoo Chief Satya Narayan Shah stated that the animal will be released into its natural habitat once it recovers.



In the past year, the Zoo has managed to rescue 241 wild animals, including birds and mammals. Out of these, 57 animals were successfully released back into their natural habitats. Currently, the Zoo houses over 13,000 animals from 115 different species.
