Foreign Players Required to Obtain Work Permit for Football Tournaments

Kathmandu: The Department of Immigration (DoI) has emphasized the necessity for foreign players to secure a work permit before participating in any football games organized by the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA). In a press release issued today, the DoI urged football clubs involved in ANFA-run national men’s and women’s league tournaments to ensure foreign players have the appropriate labour agreement and work permit, rather than merely a tourist visa.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the Department of Immigration has received complaints that some football clubs have been including foreign players holding only tourist visas in their squads for national league games. The department clarified that such practices are not compliant with the regulations, and clubs must ensure that foreign players are properly documented with work permits and agreements.

The DoI further announced that it will be monitoring the situation closely from today onward. It warned that immediate action will be taken against any foreign players found participating in games without the necessary approvals, as this would be against the intended use of their visas.
