Court Allows Two More Days’ Remand of Oli, Lekhak


Kathmandu: The District Court, Kathmandu has given permission to the police to carry out investigation, keeping Chairperson of the CPN (UML) and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress leader and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak in custody for two more days.



According to National News Agency Nepal, record keeper at Court, Tirtha Raj Bhattarai, shared that the District Court Kathmandu on Thursday allowed two more days’ remand of Chair Oli and leader Lekhak. Earlier, on March 29, Judge Ananda Prasad Shrestha had allowed to keep both of them in custody for five days for investigation.



Chair Oli was the Prime Minister and leader Lekhak was the Home Minister during the Gen Z movement that occurred in September last year. A high-level commission formed to investigate the loss of lives and property during the Gen Z movement had recommended the government take forward action against Chair Oli and leader Lekhak under criminal offense.



Based on the recommendation, Oli and Lekhak were arrested on March 28.
