Ministers Led by Home Minister Gurung Visit Kharipati Holding Center


Kharipati: Home Minister Sudhan Gurung joined a group of ministers in visiting the Holding Center that is currently hosting landless squatters in Kharipati, Bhaktapur.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Home Minister Gurung was accompanied by several key government officials, including government spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration Pratibha Rawal, Minister for Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security Sita Badi, Minister for Health and Food Safety Nisha Mehta, and Minister for Youth, Labour and Employment Ramji Yadav.



During the visit, Minister for Land Management Pratibha Rawal emphasized the government’s efforts to complete the necessary procedures for issuing land titles to the squatters. She highlighted that while it might take some time to fully manage the situation, the government is committed to finding a lasting solution. Rawal also urged stakeholders not to politicize the issue of landless squatters.



The ministers engaged in discussions with the squatters, informing them about government plans for both immediate and long-term management. This visit follows the relocation of squatters to the Kharipati center after the previous holding center in Kirtipur was flooded.
