Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has dispatched a fourth plane carrying 38 tonnes of humanitarian aid for those affected by devastating flooding in Nepal, according to Emirati news agency WAM, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti. The aid included 500 tents and 108 humanitarian relief kits.
According to Nam News Network, the UAE had previously sent three planes to Nepal carrying 148 tonnes of humanitarian aid, along with a rescue team. In total, the UAE has allocated US$10 million in urgent humanitarian aid for those affected by the severe flooding and landslides.
Flooding struck northern Nepal on the morning of August 26 after a powerful torrent of water swept into the Bhotekoshi River. The flooding was triggered by a glacier collapse that caused a landslide. The death toll from the flooding in the country has exceeded 1,300, with many more still unaccounted for.
