Palpa:The death toll in the recent landslide in Palpa has risen to five. The victims’ bodies were recovered by rescue teams following the incident.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Bhim Lal Bhattarai, confirmed the discovery of the bodies of Lil Bahadur Gharti Magar, 75, his 17-year-old daughter Dina Gharti, and Jharana Gharti, the 15-year-old daughter of Moti Lal Gharti. These individuals were found after their house in Mathagadhi rural municipality-3 was completely buried by the landslide.
Earlier, two more fatalities were reported. Sher Bahadur Chidi, 75, of Mathagadhi rural municipality-2, was rescued in an injured condition and taken to District Hospital Palpa, where he was pronounced dead. Additionally, Krishna Kumari Saru, 59, from Robdikot rural municipality, was found dead under the debris.
The bodies of all five victims are currently being held at District Hospital, Palpa, pending post-mortem examinations.
