Kathmandu:The Nepali Army successfully rescued 684 individuals from regions impacted by floods, landslides, and inundation following persistent rainfall.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the rescue operations took place across various locations in the districts of Parbat, Myagdi, Baglung, and Jajarkot. The Army’s Directorate of Military Public Relations and Information reported the deployment of both air and ground teams to ensure the safety of those stranded.
In one operation, 78 people were airlifted by an Army helicopter from Paudwar in Annapurna rural municipality-5, Myagdi, and relocated to Muktimarg Secondary School. Ground teams evacuated another 602 individuals from different parts of Parbat, Myagdi, and Baglung.
In Palpa, the residents of Wardaban Ghat in Rampur municipality-4 were relocated due to flooding from the Kali Gandaki River. Additionally, four people stranded on an island in the Bheri River at Kudu, Bheri municipality-13, Jajarkot, were rescued by helicopter.
The Army also facilitated the transport of 979 kg of relief supplies to Muktimarg Secondary School in Myagdi, Soledanda in Taman Khola rural municipality, Baglung, and Jaljala rural municipality, Parbat. In another effort, Army personnel cleared a landslide that had obstructed the Jogbudha-Budhar road section at Bhagariya in Alital rural municipality-8, Dadeldhura, restoring the road to operational status. Furthermore, they constructed approximately 80 meters of embankment along the Laalbakaiya River at Maulapur municipality-1 in Rautahat.
