Jeep Safari Reopens in Chitwan National Park

Chitwan:Jeep safari services have resumed in Chitwan National Park as of October 9. The popular tourist activity had been suspended since July 1 due to the onset of the monsoon rains.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the safari was able to restart following necessary repairs to roads within the park that had been damaged by the heavy rains. Avinash Thapa Magar, the park’s information officer, explained that the resumption was possible after addressing issues caused by floods in late September, which included repairing safari routes and clearing debris such as fallen trees and overgrown bushes.

Despite the suspension of the jeep safari within the park itself, similar activities, including jeep and elephant safaris, had continued uninterrupted in the buffer zones and community forests surrounding the park.

The jeep safari operation involves 32 jeeps from Sauraha, 22 from Kasara, 11 from Meghauli, 8 from Amaltari, and one from Madi. These jeeps provide tourists the opportunity to explore the park’s rich wildlife, which is home to rare species such as the one-horned rhino and the Royal Bengal tiger.
