Tunis:Sudurpaschim The Sudurpaschim Provincial Assembly successfully passed the budget for the fiscal year 2083/84 by a majority vote despite a boycott from the main opposition party, the Nepali Congress.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the budget was presented by Minister for Economic Affairs Chakra Bahadur Malla and was valued at Rs 37.70 billion. It was tabled on Sunday, but initial proceedings were disrupted due to a dispute that erupted before budget deliberations could begin.
The ruling Nepal Communist Party advanced the process by agreeing to amend the budget, investigate the disputed issues, and pledge to introduce a supplementary budget by November 1. Previously, the budget was presented on the scheduled date, Asar 1, by the government led by Kamal Bahadur Shah but was delayed due to changes in the ruling coalition, leading to the formation of a new government under Khagaraj Bhatta of the Communist Party of Nepal, supported by the CPN (UML).
Following the budget’s approval, Speaker Bhim Bahadur Bhandari announced the adjournment of the Provincial Assembly until further notice.
