772 Tourists Enter Mustang via Thorong La Pass in Two Weeks

Mustang:As many as 772 foreign tourists have entered Mustang through the Thorong La Pass over the past two weeks, despite challenging weather conditions.

According to National News Agency RSS, the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Jomsom check post reported that among these tourists, 43 were from SAARC countries and 729 were from other parts of the world. This influx followed the clearing of heavy snowfall that had previously blocked the trail.

The Thorong La Pass, located along the Annapurna Circuit Trail at an altitude of 5,416 meters, is known for its adventurous and risky conditions. The trail, which had been blocked by heavy rain and snowfall since September 26, has now been cleared, prompting the return of tourists to the region.

Efforts to clear the snow from the Thorong La Pass access route were supported by local security personnel and tourism entrepreneurs, improving conditions on the Annapurna Circuit trail. The trail is a popular destination for foreign tourists, particularly during the peak trekking months of May, June, and July. However, a significant number of visitors also come in October and November before the onset of winter snow.

Sanjog Thakali, Assistant for Natural Resource Conservation at ACAP Jomsom, noted that the clearing of the trail has facilitated the arrival of 772 tourists to Mustang by Thursday.
