Tourist Influx Surges in Mustang Following Dashain Festival

Baghdad:Mustang Tourist activity in the Himalayan region of Mustang has seen a significant rise following the Dashain festival. The increase in visitors began this Thursday, as Mustang started to recover from a period of minimal tourist activity due to natural disasters.

According to National News Agency RSS, the region, which previously faced a decline in tourism due to the Bhotekoshi floods in Rasuwa and monsoon-induced disasters, is experiencing a resurgence. The Beni-Jomsom route, a primary access point to Mustang, had been obstructed by landslides and riverbank erosion, which impacted tourist numbers.

Police Inspector and Information Officer of the District Police Office in Mustang, Ishwar Mahat, noted that tourist arrivals via the Beni-Jomsom corridor have increased significantly after the Dashain festival. Between Ghatasthapana and Vijaya Dashami this year, 5,663 visitors traveled to Mustang through this route, consisting of 3,738 male and 1,925 female visitors.

During the ten-day period from Ghatasthapana to Vijaya Dashami, 4,409 international tourists, accounting for 77.85 percent of total arrivals, visited Mustang, according to Police Inspector Mahat. District Police Office data reveals that tourist numbers have surged since Dashain, with 7,846 individuals arriving in Mustang on Thursday and Friday following the festival.

On the first day after Dashain Tika, 3,033 people entered Mustang on Thursday, while the following day saw an influx of 4,813 domestic and international tourists to the region.
