Nairobi:Humla Chairperson of the Shram Sanskriti Party and lawmaker Harka Sampang has emphasized the importance of equal access to public services for citizens residing in remote areas. During his visit to Adanchuli and Sarkegad rural municipalities in Humla, he highlighted the need for equitable distribution of basic services such as education, health, and transport, which are currently concentrated in urban areas.
According to National News Agency RSS, Chair Sampang pointed out that the lack of such services in rural areas contributes to a declining population as residents move to cities for better facilities. He stressed the importance of providing necessary services across all regions to enable people to live comfortably in their native areas.
Sampang also reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by locals, including the dangerous necessity of crossing rivers using tuin or rope bridges. His visit is linked to plans for constructing a suspension bridge over the Karnali River in Khadikhet of Sarkegad rural municipality-2. This initiative follows public outcry over the risks involved in using the current river-crossing methods.
The construction of the suspension bridge is set to proceed with support from Kadoorie, a non-governmental organization. Residents of Humla district continue to encounter significant challenges due to the lack of essential infrastructure, including roads and bridges.
