Short distance train movement begins in Ctg

The short distance train movement has started

from Chattogram railway station after 12 days on Thursday (August 1) morning.

Three trains Sagarika Express left Chattogram railway station for Chandpur at

8 am, Karnaphuli Express left Chattogram for Feni at 9:45 am and another

train left Chattogram for Nazirhat at 11:45 am. Railway officials said that

these three trains will run on a limited basis from now.

Earlier, train movement was stopped across the country on July 18, due to

‘Complete Shutdown’ program, ongoing unrest and curfew in the country.

However, Bangladesh Railway has not taken any decision regarding the release

of inter-city trains, the sources added.

Chattogram Railway Station Master Shafiqul Islam told journalists that no

decision has been taken to leave intercity trains from Chattogram. Three

trains left Chattogram on Thursday. No adverse events have been reported yet.

Additional security measures have been beefed up in trains. He also said that

the number of passengers in the trai
ns which have left is very less.
